| Name |
Common Banded Awl |
| Scientific Name |
Hasora chromus |
| Location |
Eastern Ghats |
| Identification |
This awl, found in the hilly forests of peninsular India, is the commonest of the large skippers. It is a dark brown butterfly with a fat thorax and pointy fore wings and gets its description from the clear white band at the centre of the underside of its wings. This skipper managed to trouble us a fair bit with its refusal to sit on anything but an unphotogenic wall. |
